A Medical Spa is now available at The Royal Center for Advanced Medicine ("RCAM"). This unique spa is unlike any other in that it contains far Infrared sauna therapy, steam sauna therapy, and contrast showersThis combination of therapies provides a gentle form of detoxification whereby toxins can safely be eliminated through the skin. Thus, patients become healthier and stronger in order to better tolerate other forms of therapy that may be prescribed for their medical conditions.
Far Infrared Sauna
The far infrared band is part of the sun's invisible spectrum of light that resonates This band of light has the ability to penetrate our skin and warm our body directly. Human tissues are purported to selectively absorb far infrared rays, causing cellular water to react in a process called, “resonant absorption”. Resonant absorption occurs when the frequency of the far infrared matches the frequency of the water in our own cells. This, in turn, causes a detoxification response whereby toxins from the cells to be released into the blood stream and eventually, excreted via sweat, feces, and urine. Tissues that are undergoing a healing process can benefit from a boost of far infrared to ensure that an optimal healing response occurs. Skin penetration for far infrared is about 1.5 to 3 inches and its gentle heating effect has been observed in the internal organs. The far infrared heat is completely safe as it produces none of the harmful rays of sunlight, only natural healing heat, and the high levels of external heat characteristic of typical dry saunas are unnecessary here. This therapy utilizes a steam generator to produce a steam flow that provides a higher temperature than the far infrared saunaThe source of the steam comes from a dedicated steam generator that utilizes filtered and ion controlled water sources to maximize benefits. Essential oils can be used to help improve the effectiveness, ambiance, and overall experienceSteam sauna therapy is particularly helpful for patients experiencing fatigue, pain, poor circulation, stress, sleep disorders, etc.
Contrast Shower
RCAM is very pleased to offer a specialized water treatment or “contrast shower”, where hot and cold temperatures are alternated, as part of its unique medical spa experience. The contrast shower is a simple yet convenient way to stimulate vitality and promote detoxification, as well as treat generalized areas of pain and sorenessHere, a computerized shower uses 14 showerheads arranged towards the RCAM patient in 4 directions to control water flow and provide both soothing and stimulating temperatures. By alternating between hot and cold water the body is stimulated to either increase heat or cool down, in order to compensate for the temperature changes. This contrast in temperatures helps strengthen and normalize the nervous, circulatory, endocrine, musculoskeletal, and immune systems and, thus, help the body better cope with physiological and psychological stress. Consequently, the uniquely designed contrast shower is a significant part of the overall detoxification and rejuvenation treatment at the RCAM medial spa that everyone should receive.
